The Young Writer's Club

Our creative writing and reading course is unique, specifically tailored to inspire the students’ creativity and imagination while guiding them toward a more developed mastery of the English language. Course outlines are exclusive to Education Garden’s Young Writers Club, and structured to be inspiring for both evolving and more developed young writers.

We develop a specific theme for each lesson and explore a variety of storytelling and creative writing techniques with each assignment. This spring session 2017 we will be inspired by “Fairy Tale” and “Classic Quest Story” themes! All lesson and assignments are structured accordingly so that members can get the most out of their creative writing time. The program is designed to encourage individual creative thinking and allow students to develop their ideas throughout the program.

Our Vision

The Education Garden’s Young Writers Club prime activity is to stimulate creative thinking, reading and writing skills. The club aims to encourage reading and extend a child’s creative writing skills, critical perceptions and imaginative faculties as a form of expression.

We believe that reading and creative writing is not just enjoyable and stimulating, it’s also an important medium of self-expression. Our qualified writers will lead and guide the learning, while trying to keep the lesson assignments as open and responsive as possible so that children can explore their own interests and experiences as a basis for creating compelling stories.

Regular assignments at the Education Garden’s Young Writers Club are not an extension of school. We have no formal curriculum and there are no tests. We don’t set targets, percentages, marks either, but that’s not to say we don’t have structure or proper guidance – and, though our focus is on creative rather than literacy skills, we are confident the latter will improve as a result of our program.

We encourage children to use their imagination from an early age and to challenge conventional wisdom they will be better equipped not only as writers and readers, but as thinkers, in science, law, politics, engineering – in fact any career you care to mention.

Another core activity members of our club are encouraged to explore is public speaking. Our reading program includes a video presentation designed to help your children be confident in front of groups so that they never shy away from stage fright! Our members learn how to build vocal strength, as well as possess physical presence and they will be encouraged to express their opinions to an audience of their peers. .

One thing parents and children can be sure of with Education Garden’s Young Writers Club is that it will always be exciting, enriching and, in the widest possible sense, educational, too. But, most of all, it will be really good fun!
